Barter Can Help Businesses in a Weak Economy

This past year has been difficult for business owners to say the least. Drive down the main streets of any town and you'll see stores going out of business and an abundance of "for lease" signs. Small businesses in particular have had a difficult time keeping up with expenses. While it's possible to compensate for lower sales to a point by cutting unnecessary expenses, most businesses have fixed costs, like electricity and utilities and rent, that do not go away regardless of how much cost-cutting they do.
While it will not pay the utility bill, barter can be used as a tool for controlling expenses. For example, a person I know who was recently looking for a place to live arranged a trade for part of his rent in exchange for detailing the property owner's cars on a regular basis. Since the landlord had a vacant apartment, and the car detailer had extra time in his schedule, both parties benefited by leveraging the cost of their product or service to fulfill a need.

Welcome to our new and improved ssbarter.com website. After spending nearly 3 months redesigning and upgrading our site, I'm excited to introduce to you a number of new features.
Our new site is social media savvy. We've added the ability to easily create news articles and blog entries. Visitors to our site can rate articles, click on links to share our articles with dozens of social media sites, and leave comments. In fact, even the commenting system is designed to interact with the social media.
More importantly, for our members, we have created our own social media site specifically for members of our barter exchange. By clicking on the community link at the top of any page, you will be linked to our social media engine. Unlike most social media sites, our site is exclusively for our barter exchange members. We hope that by providing this service, our members will be able to interact both with each other and with our barter exchange staff more easily.
